Letter of Intent

Dear Viewer!

Thank you for visiting my blog! I hope that this blog can serve as a representation of the person that I am and the dreams and goals that I hope to achieve in the future. After I graduate in 2011 I would like to obtain a position at a philanthropic or environmental non-profit organization, attend graduate school for either speech pathology or counseling or possibly join the Peace Corps. I do not know exactly where I am heading in life or what I will end up calling a career, but I have always known that my calling in life is to help people. I am happiest when I am helping others and I want to pursue a career that will allow me to affect change and better the lives of others. With this blog I hope to give future employers, as well as anyone else who might be interested, a look at my prior work and volunteer experiences, samples of my work from both my areas of study and an overall insight into what makes me a valuable and unique individual. Please enjoy browsing through the different projects that I believe will showcase my experiences and talents very well and will hopefully show you why I would be a valuable addition to your company or organization.

Written Work

Here are a few examples of my writing from the TCNJ Communication Studies and English departments:

The Signal Article
This is an article that I wrote for TCNJ's campus newspaper, The Signal.

Redevelopment Agency Passes Motion, Building Plans Move Forward
This is an article that I wrote for my Introduction to Journalism class. I attended a Ewing Township municipal meeting and wrote an article as if to be published in the local paper.

MySpace Music
This is a trade that I wrote for my Introduction to Media Communication class. The paper focuses on the recent developments in the music industry and how new technologies that have developed along with the internet such as social networking sites and music downloading sites have affected the industry.

Blade Runner as an Extension of Film Noir
I wrote this paper as my final for my Language of Television and Film class. The paper is an analysis of the film Blade Runner and a comparison of the film to the films of the 1940's film noir movement.

Politics in Literature: The Importance of Progress
This is an example of my writing from the English department. I wrote this paper as my final for my Issues in Multicultural Literature class. I discussed books such as Heart of Darkness, The Redundancy of Courage and In the Time of the Butterflies to answer the question of whether or not politics should be included in fictional literature.

My Photography

Here are a few samples of my photography. Photography is a beloved hobby of mine as it allows me to express my more creative side and capture the beauty of an individual, an aspect of nature or a specific moment. I have never taken any formal photography classes, but I hope to before I graduate. I would love to incorporate photography into my career path because I believe that pictures are the most effective form of expression and can incite feeling in a way that most other forms of art cannot. Below are some of my favorite shots.

"Home is One of the Few"

"Imagine"

"I Stood Beneath a Green Sky"

"KEEP OFF THE RAIL"

"Reflection"
